Two different variants of Gourdoux' surname can be found. Early (published before 1823) books and book reviews give his surname as Gourdoux (or just J. H. G.), while his later publications [Gourdoux-Daux, 1823] and reviews give his name as Gourdoux-Daux. First names can be defined by comparing address of 1823 edition [Gourdoux-Daux, 1823] with this Ordonnance du Roi about giving the certificate pour un cheval mécanique to Jean-Henri Gourdoux. Should not be confused with Gourdoux-fils. This is a very creative translation of [Gourdoux-Daux, 1811] (Susan de Guardiola has made the comparison), so Victor Guillou is listed as the author.
