Markowski (sometimes spelled as Markowsky) is believed to be a pseudonym of Maurice Mayer (sometimes just Maurice), according to various publications from 10.09.1857, 16.09.1857, 1864, 1867, 07.08.1868, 05.10.1873. He is said to have taken Markowski as his pseudonym in two post-mortem publications from 14.04.1884 and 16.04.1884, where he is named Joseph Mayer, le petit juif de Posen, the jew of Polish origin.
